Troop 83 serves the Plainfield, Illinois and surrounding area. We are a relatively new troop being chartered on 5/13/2003.  We are sponsored by St. John Lutheran Church of Joliet.  We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm.
ELECTRONICS CABIN CAMP-OUT DECEMBER 16-18
Yep!  It's that time of the year again.  Time to pack up your 36" TV, X-Box, PS3, DVD player and games, load them in the car and prepare to enjoy a weekend of cabin camping and electronics euphoria!! The annual "Electronics" camp-out will be held at a cabin in the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve in Warrenville, IL.  Space is limited for this outing, so be sure to get your permission slips turned in early.
VOLO AUTO MUSEUM - January 28
With over 300 cars to see; antiques, hot rods, the most expensive car in the world, celebrity cars, vehicles used in movies and Bonnie and Clyde's "Death Car" we will have plenty to do on this troop day trip.  There is a trolly tour we can take, showrooms to visit and a museum to see.  We will plan to leave St. John's at 9:00am and return around 4:00pm.  Bring a lunch or money to buy lunch at the museum.  Check out the Volo Auto Museum website at http://volocars.com/index.php.
CASCADE MOUNTIAN SKI and TUBE TRIP February 17-19

Attention Webelo II's
Are you interested in bridging to Troop 83?  Our leaders and scouts would love to come and visit with you at one of your den meetings, or you can come and visit us at one of our troop meetings.  We will make a presentation to you and your parents about the benefits of bridging to Boy Scouts, the differences between Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting as well as why you might want to choose Troop 83.  Just drop an e-mail to either our Scoutmaster, Luke Ford or our Committee Chairman, Bill Zucek.  Their e-mail addresses are under the "contacts" tab.

ONGOING TROOP RECYCLING

Troop 83 has an ongoing recycling program.  There is no selling involved and its a great way to raise money for troop equipment.  We would like all our Scouts and parents to save aluminum cans.  Crush them (rinse first if you can), put them in a bag and bring them with you to the next troop meeting.  One of the leaders will collect them and "turn them into money".
