Welcome!
Troop 83 serves the Plainfield, Illinois and surrounding area. We are a new troop and were chartered on 5/13/2003.  We are sponsored by St. John Lutheran Church of Joliet.
Silver Springs - Survival Campout - 9/17, 18 & 19

It's here again, the Troop 83 "Survival Campout".  Do you think you can make it through the weekend?  Minimal food, minimum shelter and minimum supplies. . . .sure sounds like fun to me.  What will we try this year?  Last year we had some squirrel!   Who knows: pigeon, racoon, skunk or maybe even possum (yuck).  Whatever we do it is sure to be fun.  Start planning its only 1 month away.

Annual Thanksgiving Campout - 11/12 thru 11/14
Last years campout was so well liked we are returning to Channahon State Park for our Annual Thanksgiving campout.  What will be planned for this year?  Don't know for sure but it is guaranteed to be fun for all.  As usual we will celebrate with Turkey and Ham and all the trimmings.  This year should be our biggest ever.  Mark your calendar this is one campout you don't want to miss.

ONGOING TROOP RECYCLING

Troop 83 has an ongoing recycling program.  There is no selling involved and its a great way to raise money for troop equipment.  We would like all our Scouts and parents to save aluminum cans.  Crush them (rinse first if you can), put them in a bag and bring them with you to the next troop meeting.  One of the leaders will collect them and "turn them into money".
